Becoming a Therapy Dog Team

Is your dog well-behaved, healthy, and enjoy interacting with unfamiliar people? If so, he or she may be qualified to become a therapy dog.

Paws 4 Friends members are registered with
Therapy Dogs Inc.
Therapy Dogs Inc., incorporated in the year 1990, is a national non-profit organization with its corporate office located in Cheyenne, WY.

We invite you to visit their website to learn more about Therapy Dogs Inc. and what is needed to become a registered member with TDInc. A
nyone is invited to become a perspective registered Therapy Dogs Inc. member and Paws 4 Friends can assist you in becoming a therapy dog team. Membership is open to handlers with all breeds of dogs.

TDInc. registers only handler/dog teams. For insurance reasons, TDInc. cannot register wolves or wolf-hybrids, coyotes or coyote-hybrids because the rabies vaccination has not been proven to be effective with these animals.

This process is not difficult or time-consuming.  A fecal test and a health exam are required from your veterinarian to complete the test.  There are no other fees or cost until you complete the program and mail your packet directly to the TDInc. Corporate offices. Formal dog training classes are always a good recommendation, but are not a requirement to complete this program.

With a Tester/Observer for Therapy Dogs Inc., the therapy dog registration process involves:

·        A completed Application (signed by your veterinarian) and Release of Claims
for TDInc.  Click to go directly to the new member page
Therapy Dogs Inc.

·        A health check up from your veterinarian, a negative fecal test, a copy of the dogs Rabies vacation and proof of current vaccinations are required.

·         Testing your dog for basic obedience skills and appropriate personality traits.

·
Complete three observations.  Two of the observations must be completed at a medical care facility. You and your dog will show your ability to handle your dog in a safe and effective manner.

We encourage all interested persons to explore the possibilities! If you are interested in getting your dog registered, Paws 4 Friends can help you through the process.

**You are not required to become a member of the Paws 4 Friends Club to complete the TDInc. program.
